Longon on Tuesday urged all doctors in Dimapur district especially District Hospital Dimapur (DHD) to remain alert, so that any outbreak of new diseases would be contained.&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div>The minister made this appeal while inaugurating out-patient department (OPD) complex at DHD. He said Dimapur being the gateway to Nagaland, many new outbreak of disease or imported from other states were first reported in the district.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>In this regard, Longon appealed to the health workers to remain vigil so that any suspected outbreak of disease in the district would be tackled.<\/div>\n<div>Admitting that many of the population that availed health care facilities at DHD belonged to economically weaker section, he urged the doctors to offer their best service to their maximum capacity. &nbsp;He said that the turnout of OPD and indoor patients was very high including those from neighbouring Assam.<\/div>\n<div>In this regard, he expressed hope that the new OPD will help the hospital in providing better services to the patients.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>Longon further hoped that the OPD block would ease the problems faced by the hospital in providing better services to the hospital staff and patients. He also appealed to the people to be at their liberty to utilize the health care facilities being offered by the hospital.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>The minister also appealed to public to extend continuous support and co-operation to the health workers, when the government was investing in health sector to provide better healthcare facilities to the people.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>On the representation submitted by District Hospital Dimapur, medical superintendent, Longon said that the department would take up the issue of GDMO with urgency.<\/div>\n<div>Principal director (PD) H &amp; FW, Dr. Watikala in her short speech urged the doctors and nurses of District Hospital Dimapur to be committed, sacrifice and to realize the commitment of their profession in delivering their service to the needy people. &nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>Dr. Watikala informed that the department would formulate formulating strict and corrective measures with regard to transfer and posting.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>She also discouraged the practice of bribery or through VIPs for posting to their place of choice\/preference. Instead, she urged doctors to uphold the moral, ethics and principles of the noble profession.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>Director H&amp;FW, Bendang, medical superintendent DHD, Dr. C.W. Tungoe, chief medical officer (CMO) Dimapur, Dr.Vikato, doctors and health workers attended the inauguration programme.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>Earlier, the out-patient department &nbsp;complex was dedicated by chaplain DHD, Rev.Mar. &nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>The programme was chaired by medical superintendent DHD, while welcome address was delivered by Dr. L. Belho. Special number was presented by school of nursing students.
