The NPAC convenor informed that top leaders of the GPRN/NSCN were in Delhi lobbying for formal talks between the two entities adding that till such time the GPRN/NSCN will be doing their homework in consultation with all stakeholders.

During the briefing, Mulatonu dwelled on various issues pertaining to recent development of the Naga political issue and the framework agreement signed between NSCN (I-M) and GoI in August last.

Mulatonu along with NPAC members said that the GPRN/NSCN NPAC had held at least 18 rounds of meetings with civil societies, NGOs, tribal bodies/hohos with all the “tribes of Nagaland” (indigenous) including Gorkhas.

On the reason behind the existence of NPAC, Mulatonu maintained GPRN/NSCN was “compelled” to find solution for the “Nagas of Nagaland.”

He explained how NSCN (K) has confined its political ambition to Myanmar, NSCN (I-M) to Manipur, thereby necessitating the existence of NPAC to represent the aspirations of the Nagas of Nagaland.

He also dismissed the August 3 framework agreement with the contention that the agreement has nothing for the Nagas of Nagaland. “We will not restrict anybody but we will not allow any ‘stranger’ to decide the fate of Nagas of Nagaland when we are there,” Mulatonu asserted adding there was no dearth of capable “sons of the soil.”

When asked about the objective of the GPRN/NSCN when it sits with GoI, the kilonser stated “sovereignty” will be the basis as that has always been the demand of the Nagas.

“Hundreds of talks in last twenty years between the NSCN I-M have miserably failed and the losses are at the expense of the son of the soils ie Nagas of Nagaland,” rued one NPAC member while asserting that the GPRN/NSCN will consult every stakeholder in a “transparent” manner prior to talks. “The talks will be based on Sovereignty and the opinion/voice of the stakeholders ie the ‘Nagas of Nagaland’ will play a vital role to determine our fate,” added one member.

“We are not against the Naga Nationalism but won’t compromise the rights of the Nagas of Nagaland; depriving our rights and knocking the doors of integration makes no sense at all,” maintained the NPAC leaders.

Meanwhile, the members informed that talks with the NTC, CNTC and ENPO will be held soon.
