{"id":99579,"date":"2016-10-07T23:37:15","date_gmt":"2016-10-07T23:37:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2016\/10\/07\/23rd-mat-presentation-for-academic-excellence-held-at-dmu\/"},"modified":"2016-10-07T23:37:15","modified_gmt":"2016-10-07T23:37:15","slug":"23rd-mat-presentation-for-academic-excellence-held-at-dmu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2016\/10\/07\/23rd-mat-presentation-for-academic-excellence-held-at-dmu\/","title":{"rendered":"23rd MAT presentation for academic excellence held at Dmu"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/IMGFIQYDJJYVUSYNDTPC.jpg><\/p>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">23rd presentation ceremony of Mayangnokcha Awards for academic excellence was held here Friday at DABA, Khermahal Dimapur hosted by Dimapur Mission Higher Secondary School (DMHSS) with parliamentary secretary for Art &amp; Culture, E.Eshak Konyak as the special guest of honour.<\/span><\/div>\n<div>Organized by the Mayangnokcha Award Trust (MAT), the roll of honour of the 2016 awards included the Mayangnokcha Award for Academic Excellence Overall Topper and the first recipient from among the Eastern Naga students was awarded to Phepon P Meya from Edith Douglas Higher Secondary School, Mokokchung.<\/div>\n<div>Meanwhile, the MAT-NE Sun Award for the Subject Topper in English (North East Sun magazine, New Delhi) was awarded to P. Tanghiu Khiamniungan of Saint John\u2019s school, Diphupar \u2018B\u2019, while MAT-Rockdale Award for Subject Topper in Ao (MIL) (Rockdale club, Mokokchung) and MAT-YSRD Award for the Subject Topper in Social Sciences (youth resources &amp; sports department of Nagaland) went to Alemzungba Jamir of Edith Douglas Higher Secondary School, Mokokchung.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>MAT- TIR YIMYIM Award for the Subject Topper in Sciences (Tir Yimyim daily, Dimapur) went to Tongpangtangla of Christian Higher secondary school, Dimapur and MAT-EFoM Award for the Subject Topper in Mathematics (education forum of Mokokchung) went to N\u00fcsavol\u00fc Nyekha of Little Flower higher secondary school, Kohima.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>Speaking at the awards presentation, Eshak appreciated the trustees of MAT for taking initiatives and promoting education in the state.<\/div>\n<div>Eshak recounted instances from his childhood- the struggles of attaining education in the absence of basic amenities- and remarked that the present time was a better time for education.<\/div>\n<div>He encouraged the students to aspire to stand on their feet and not depend on the government for jobs.<\/div>\n<div>The chief guest was also lamented the attitude of government employees in the state saying there were people who have never seen their place of posting and teachers who never attend classes but keep proxies.<\/div>\n<div>Eshak maintained such people were committing sins.<\/div>\n<div>He said that the government was always blamed for insincerity of employees and teachers and urged the children to be sincere in everything they do.<\/div>\n<div>Eshak noted that the purpose of education was lost if no matter how educated a person is if the person lacks patience, tolerance and sincerity.<\/div>\n<div>Further, he congratulated the students for their success and lauded them for bringing laurels to the community, and encouraged them to become active members in building a good Naga society.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>Earlier, keynote address was delivered by Trustee MAT, Er.Moa Aier, while God\u2019s blessing was invoked by director, Nagaland Missions Movement, Rev.Andrew Semp.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>Word of encouragement was shared by HSLC Topper 2003 awardees, Er.
