Vehicle owners asked to remove tinted films

Dimapur traffic police has issued a reminder asking all vehicle owners to remove all black/tinted films from the safety glasses of their vehicles. In a press release, addl dy. commissioner of police and PRO reminded on the judgement of the apex court order, which prohibited the use of films of any Visual Light Transmission (VLT) percentage or any material on glass panes and windshields of vehicles. In this regard, PRO said that the Dimapur traffic police during its current drive had removed black films from 549 vehicles so far.  The officer has also cautioned that unauthorized use of designated plates and beacon lights, vehicle with UR/AF display plates, would be booked under relevant laws. Further, hospitals and ambulance operators have been informed to give proper instruction to drivers and technicians not to misuse sirens and emergency lights when the vehicles were not carrying patients. Therefore, if anyone found misusing the same would be booked, PRO said.
