Workshop on ‘biotechnology & IPR’ in Dmu

One day workshop on “Biotechnology & Intellectual Property Rights (IPR)” was organized by Biotech Hub and Patent Information Centre under Nagaland Science & Technology Council (NASTEC), Directorate of Science & Technology, Kohima between March 17-31 at Dimapur.
The workshop was organized for seven schools namely Carmel Higher Secondary School, St. John Higher Secondary School, Greenwood Higher Secondary School, Pranab Vidyapith Higher Secondary School, Bethesda Higher Secondary School, St. Paul Higher Secondary School and Don Bosco Higher Secondary School.  During the workshop, research scientist, Biotech Hub, Dr. Merino Visa, while presenting the technical session on biotechnology and its prospects in Nagaland emphasized on the importance of biotechnology as one of the emerging field of science.
 Realizing the rich natural biodiversity of Nagaland which is located in a hot biodiversity zone, Dr. Merino said biotechnology could play a vital role in the economic development of the State.
Technical in-charge, Patent Information Centre, Gihukali Chishi elucidated on the emerging benefits of IPR for both individual and society. 
Impressing the students on infringement of rights, she encouraged them to safeguard “our” property and protect “our” rights.
