Music Carnival on July 23 at LSC

Nagaland Dimapur is set to witness the first Music Carnival on July 23 at Life Spring Corner, Dimapur under the theme, “Treffen der Freigiester”, which translates as “Meeting of the free thinkers”. 
The day long Music carnival includes music workshops on piano, choral music, violin, guitar and voice. The concept of the festival is to bring music students from across the city and to disseminate music learning skills amongst the students, and also to extend an opportunity to those who do not have formal access to music education. 
The Carnival aims to bring young and old alike through the discourse of Music. Abigail Odyuo, a Student of Masters in Music Industries, Birmingham City University, UK conceptualised the carnival. 
Some of the activities inculcated in the Carnival will surely treat the young music students as it involves playful learning activities like rhythm games, mobile music games, paint what you hear, music storytelling, musical movies, karaoke, identifying sounds etc. 
The registration for the Carnival starts at 9.30 am to 10 am with a registration fee of Rs 150 (entry +unlimited games and activities), Rs 200 (entry +unlimited games and activities+ one music workshop) and Rs. 250 (entry +unlimited games and activities+ up to five music workshops). Parents accompanying a music student(s) will be excluded from entry charges. Intercontinental food will be available at the Carnival Food Stall. 
Music Carnival starts from 10 am to 4 pm with the closing ceremony from 4 pm to 5 pm. 
Guitar and violin students are requested to bring their own instruments for the workshop.

Profile of Resource persons for the Music Carnival Workshop:

Normando Villas Jr. (Guitar): Norman is a guitar pedagogue focused on teaching to beginning guitarist, intermediate and advanced students. He started his teaching career even when he was a student. With more than 10 years of hands-on experience as a guitar instructor and a bachelor’s degree, he is still eager to learn and to enhance the knowledge that he gain from those years of studies and teachings. He is a pioneering faculty member of the premier music school in Nagaland, the Nagaland Conservatory of Music which inaugurated in 2012.
Louise (Violin): Louise Shishak Faculty at Patkai Christian College teaches music to class 9-12, music education & violin at the MSSM (Margaret Shishak School of Music). 
She completed her Bachelor of Music from Sheffield University, UK and Postgraduate Certificate of Education from Leeds University, UK. In 2000, having taught in primary schools in England for 4 years, she came to work in India at Woodstock school, Uttarakhand.

Avoni (Piano): Avoni Odyuo is currently the Music Director, Golden Crown Theological College and conductor and choir master for Golden Crown College Choir, Coronation choir, and GCTC alumni choir. She played the Piano since age 6 and passed Grade 8 in Piano and Theory from Associated board of Royal School of Music, London. She have sung as first soprano for Singapore Symphony Chorus (SSC) and performed Brahms requiem along with Singapore Symphony Chorus. She has done her Certificate in Higher Education in Creative Arts from University of Wales, and Masters of Divinity from TCA college, Singapore.
Zare (Choral Music): Zareni L. Yanthan finished her Masters in Church Music-Ministry Leadership from Singapore Bible College. She started her formal musical journey from School of Music, Kohima; later studied piano under Mr. Zingrin A. Shishak and Mdm. Margaret A. Shishak at Patkai Christian College. She completed her Bachelor in Church Music (Piano Major) from Singapore Bible College under the guidance of Miss Lanny Yap and Mdm. Ng Teo Suey Sung. She now will be working full time as the Music Director at Kohima Lotha Baptist Church.
Mhathung (Voice): Mhathung Odyuo, a versatile musician is currently teaching voice to the bachelor of church music students in Margaret Shishak School of Music, Dimapur. 
A  B.Com graduate, holding ATCL Diploma in western vocals, grade VIII and Grade VI in Flute, Cello, Recorder, Saxophone and Clarinet. He’s the founder co-conductor of the other two – The Octave Singers, a male-voice group, and Serenades Breve, an eight-member ensemble.
