Intensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight (IDCF) was launched at Deputy Commissioner’s (DC) chamber, new district headquarter, Peren on July 15 under the chairmanship of DC-cum- chairman steering committee Peter Lichamo.
During the launching programme, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) cum vice chairman steering committee Dr. Ngangshimeren while highlighting IDCF significance said the launching programme has been conducted early so that committee members can discuss and bring out the agendas to disseminate and create intensive awareness as the programme need multi sectoral approach.
CMO urged the administration, social welfare, school education, PHE and Zeliangrong Mipui Organization (ZMO) to extend their support to fight against the disease.
He also said that this year the committee aimed to reach out all the villages and distribute ORS and zinc tablets free of cost to 0-5years of age.
Lichamo informed that church should be used as a platform to disseminate information and demonstration of hand washing should be done in all the schools.
He also highlighted the importance of circulation of IEC materials such as leaflets in local dialects. Various aspects of implementing programme were also discussed.
DPO UIP/RCH and member Secretary of the programme Dr. Khrielasanuo presented immunization and iron folic acid status in the district.
During the programme, the committee also resolved to appoint nodal officers from stake holder of the departments or organization for any information and further necessary action and to move the concern department for appointment of more ASHA’s in Peren town.
The programme was attended by officials from CMO, deputy CMO, DPO UIP/RCH, medical superintendent, schools, PHE, ZMO and administration.
