In observance of world population day and population stabilization fortnight, District Level Family Planning Orientation (DLFPO) cum review meeting was held on July 13 under the chairmanship of chief medical officer (CMO) Peren district, Dr. Ngangshimeren. The fortnight is being observed from July 11 to 24.
CMO in his address highlighted that India was the first to launch population stabilization with emphasis on FP, for enhancing and improving life expectancy and to bring down the fertility rate.
He also urged the health workers to sensitize the grassroot level.
DPO UIP/RCH, Dr. Khrielasanuo spoke about the guidelines to be followed during the fortnight and urged medical officers to be at their posting places to deliver quality service.
She said that all members were to carry out intensive awareness about FP and health units to conduct counselling during OPD hours. Other service delivery like condoms, OCP, E-pill, IUCD and IEC materials were to be distributed in all the 4 blocks.
Dr. Khrielasanuo also said that ASHAs would conduct interpersonal communication in the villages of the four blocks.
Medical superintendent Dr. Atsungla acknowledged the health workers and expressed the need to work sincerely to make the district one of the best in all fields.
IEC materials, documentary and PSA‘s DVD’s on family planning, condoms and contraceptives pills were distributed to the health units.
The meeting was attended by deputy CMO, DPO UIP/RCH, medical superintendent, gynaecologist, surgeon, medical officers from various primary health centres, pharmacists and nurses, district program management unit staffs consisting of DPM, DAM, DMO, BPM’s, BAM’s and ASHA coordinators.
