Candidates seek party tickets

In a reversal of roles, in the process of nomination of party candidates, the run up to the 2008 elections, saw Congress having many ticket seekers.

However for the 2013 election, it appears that the ruling NPF is practically besieged with many ticket seekers than the opposition.

25 Mongoya
For the 25 Mongoya assembly constituency, an aspiring candidate from Longsa village is vying for NPF ticket against Dr Ngangshi Ao from Ao Mokokchung village, who won the seat in 2008.

2 Dimapur-II
 Prominent citizens of Kuda village on January 25, deliberated upon “the hastily convened” meeting and the support by Kuda Village Council to aspiring candidate Savi Liegise of Kuda village. According to GB Kuda “C” village, Akhrieo Kire, “prominent and concerned citizens of Kuda village” on January 25 reiterated and resolved to support any candidate who will get the NPF ticket.

It may be mentioned that another aspiring candidate Lipok Pongen is vying for NPF ticket to fight against sitting veteran Congress member S.I.Jamir.

30 Alongtaki
Motoshi Longkumer, retired additional director, land resource and mission director, Nagaland Bio Resource Mission, has declared he would stand for election as independent candidate from 30 Alongtaki assembly constituency. The sitting MLA of the constituency is Er.T.Saku Aier of NPF who won the seat in 2008.

58 Shamator-Chessore
 Yimchungru Tribal Council (YTC) Friday dismissed the report in a section of the media against sitting MLA R.Tohanba as false and baseless.

YTC reaffirmed its resolve for a free and fair election in accordance with the NBCC campaign for ‘Clean Election’ and warned offenders of stringent action. YTC also appealed to various Naga political groups to adhere the directive of their higher authorities not to involve in elections.

ZAPO clarifies
Zuketsa Area Public Organisation(ZAPO) has clarified that its letter of support to K.Therie was appended by the outgoing general secretary and not the newly elected office bearers. This was disclosed by outgoing general secretary ZAPO Zewechu Khutsoh.

39 Sanis
Intending candidate T.L.Merry has declared his candidature for Sanis against sitting member Ralanthung, deputy speaker NLA.NPF vice president Merry is also aspiring for NPF ticket.
