Superintendent of Police (SP) Dimapur has asked all license holders of fire arms within the district to comply with the Dimapur, Deputy Commissioner (DC)’s notification in regard to license holders of fire arms and deposit the same along with license to the nearest police stations within respective jurisdiction by January 30.
Superintendent of Police, Dimapur also notified that necessary action would be taken against defaulters and that their arms along with the license would be seized as per law and as per the direction of the Election Commission of India (ECI).
Meanwhile, in view of the impending general election in the state, all licensed arms holder of Wokha have been directed to deposit their arms at the respective police stations on or before the February 2.
The arms so deposited shall be kept in the police custody till one week after the declaration of result, an official bulletin stated.
The officer in-charge of each police station has also been directed to issue receipt to each deposited and to maintain proper records of deposited arms.
