A farewell programme in honour of former chief secretary (CS), Nagaland Lalthara IAS was held at Secretariat Plaza on January 28.
The function was chaired by incumbent chief secretary, Alemtemshi Jamir IAS. Chief minister, Neiphiu Rio while addressing the programme, said the services rendered by the outgoing chief secretary to the state was immense, adding, Lalthara was the only person who never opted to go out on deputation in spite of many opportunities offered.
Rio said 37 years in service was like a blink of an eye where only few could achieve. Chief minister said though Lalthara was no longer the chief secretary, he would be remembered by all and the benchmark he had set will be difficult to catch up.
Lalthara, in his farewell speech, acknowledged the generosity and hospitality of the Nagas and expressed his appreciation for their support throughout his service in the state.
“Not even once I felt as not being a Naga because of which I am leaving the office with good memories and satisfaction”, he said.
He also thanked associations specially NCS, NSS, drivers and Grade IV staff for their maturity while discharging their duties.
Lalthara stated that the state of Nagaland has one of the best bureaucracy and was optimistic that under the leadership of the present chief secretary Alemtemshi and Banuo Z. Jamir, the state would not face any problem managing the government.
Farewell speeches were also delivered by the representative of IAS, IPS, IFS, NCS, NSS associations.
The programme also included felicitations from different departments, association and DC’s from all the districts.
