One of State’s most electrifying rock showdown, Smash Fest, is back and louder than ever, gearing up to reignite Rock & Roll in the state. Launched in 2019 with a dream to revive the fading “Rock & Roll” genre, Smash Fest is considered not just a contest, but a movement.
It may be noted Smash Fest runs completely without any sponsorship or partnership from the state government.
Behind the scenes, a passionate team of six, a mix of musicians, entrepreneurs, and all die-hard Rock music lovers, known collectively as SMASH, have kept the dream alive through sheer grit and commitment.
“Rock music was once the soul of Nagaland’s youth. Smash Fest isn’t just about competition. It’s about bringing back the spirit, the raw energy, and the stories of rebellion that defined a generation”, says one of the organizers.
After the COVID pandemic-induced pause, the festival was reborn in 2023 and is now charging into its fourth edition. The Smash contest includes three preliminary rounds, with two winners from each rounds securing a place in the finale, titled, “Smash Fest”.
Each preliminary round offers Rs 20,000 for first place and Rs 500 for the runner-up, while those competing in the finale will walk away with a cash prize of Rs 1,00,000. This year’s opening round is set to take place on May 24, with two more preliminary contests scheduled for August and November. Tickets for all rounds are available to the public at www.oncue.in.
