District Tobacco Control Cell (DTCC), Dimapur, organized a one-day sensitization workshop for student leaders of Dimapur Naga Student Union (DNSU) on “Tobacco Control and its laws” on January 28 at Book Marc, Dimapur.
Resource person Dr. Ritu Thurr, district nodal officer, Dimapur, oriented the participants on the harmful effects of tobacco and its products.
Additional director and state nodal officer, NTCP, Dr. Savino, who was also one of the resource persons, sensitized the participants on the implementation of Cigarette and other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA) 2003.
Both the resource persons encouraged, at the same time, called upon the youth and student leaders to come forward to fight and control the use of tobacco products.
The programme concluded with positive response from the participants and with assurance to co-operate in any health programme.
A total of 15 participants attended the workshop.
