‘IMPACT 5000 by 18’ entrepreneurship workshop for Dimapur district was held September 17-19.
With the idea that “scarcity creates opportunity”, this campaign seeks to impact 5000 lives by 2018, a step to address the urgency of the need of a healthier and stronger private sector and to encourage opportunity entrepreneurship. This programme is being undertaken in collaboration between YouthNet and the state department of youth resources and sports.
The workshop, organized with the help of Business Association of Nagaland (BAN), discussed with local entrepreneurs in and around Dimapur the topics such as assertive sales techniques, income, expense and financial analysis, Target marketing and online branding etc.
According to a press release, opportunity entrepreneurship was looking at problems and coming up with business opportunities. For example, while some participants discussed that power was a problem, one participant said selling inverters was where they made the most income.
Some of the entrepreneurs could not rent shops because of the high rental costs so they went online, uploaded picture of their products from home and sold it to their customers.
The facilitators for the workshop from YouthNet included Tomtsa Chishi and Lezo Putsure.
At the workshop, the participants maintained that the event was a good networking platform for the entrepreneurs. The next workshop would be conducted in Zunebhoto.
