Ikiye and Itovi villages under Zunheboto district have been cut-off since September 2 after some anti social elements allegedly blocked and dug the official government road — only lifeline of the village community.
In a joint press release, chairman and secretary of the two villages’ joint council Kakheto Aye GB and Hotoi Awomi alleged that “some miscreants of the Satoi village had blocked and dug the road at four different locations”.
“Two vehicles Tata Sumo with seriously ill patient/passengers and a Maruti Gypsy were stranded on the road and was never recovered till date,” they said.
The joint council has urged the responsible authority to look into the matter seriously at the earliest possible for the welfare/wellbeing of Ikiye village and Itovi village before the issue heated up thus creating unrest and confrontations amongst both parties.
In connection with this, the joint village council has urged the district administration and government to settle the crisis at the earliest.
