In a move that was meant to send a strong message , NPF central office, through party president Dr.Shürhozelie, Monday initiated disciplinary action against NPF Mokokchung Division by dissolving the parent body on the recommendation of the party Disciplinary Action Committee(DAC).
NPF sources informed Nagaland Post that the disciplinary action against NPF Mokokchung Division was initiated on two grounds- (a) violating the NPF Central Office directives issued during the reshuffle of the DAN-III ministry to all party rank and file, not to issue any press statement favouring any legislator and (b) cautioning the NPF Central Office for dropping senior minister Imkong L.Imchen and debutant minister Merentoshi R.Jamir during the recent reshuffle of the DAN-III ministry.
It may be recalled, that the NPF Central Office had issued the gag order on party rank and file against issuing press statements in favour of any legislator during reshuffle of the ministry.
The sources said the party’s DAC maintained that, by issuing the press statement in the media, the NPF Mokokchung Division had flouted the directive. Secondly, the NPF Mokokchung Division had also challenged the NPF Central Office by asking it to justify the reasons for dropping the two ministers and asking that it respond within a time period.
According to the NPF sources, the party’s Disciplinary Action Committee had served a show cause notice on the NPF Mokokchung Division seeking clarification. However, the sources said that the NPF Mokokchung division could not give satisfactory response.
In the light of its findings, the DAC then recommended the dissolution of the party division after which, NPF president Dr. Shurhozelie Liezietsu issued the order for dissolution of the parent body(NPF division) except the party’s frontal organizations. The sources also said the NPF Central Office would re-organise the party in the district within a few months.
