In a concerted effort to curb the sale of liquor in and around Dimapur, excise mobile squad conducted raids at Railway gate area, Deluxe point, Golaghat road and Tata parking area including New Field Excise check gate Dimapur and seized 887 bottles of assorted liquor and 30 litres of country made liquor (Rohi).
In this connection 31 persons were arrested and penalized as per NLTP Act ’89. All the seized articles has been kept at excise mobile squad malkhana pending destruction order.
“Further raids in pocket-wise manner will be carried out in and around Dimapur town”, said superintendent of excise mobile squad GhokihoYeptho.
In a separate incident, the excise New Field check gate duty party seized 240 bottles of beer from a Maruti Alto on Friday wee hours. One Daniel a resident of Lahorijan Assam was arrested and charged under NLTP Act’89.
