Director General (DG) of Assam Rifles (AR), Lt Gen Ranbir Singh, AVSM, SM visited headquarters inspector general Assam Rifles (North) on a two day visit on February 26- 27 to review the security situation in Nagaland. During his stay, the general officer reviewed Assam Rifles garrison at Kohima and Chiswema.
According to a defense release, AR director general was briefed on the prevailing security situation in the state including employment of Assam Rifles.
He stressed on the need for synergy of effort at all levels and appreciated all officers, junior commissioned officers and jawans for their contribution towards maintaining peace and tranquility in the state.
He was highly appreciative of the cooperation being extended by civil administration, NGOs and the Church to the security forces in the discharge of their duties.
He specifically appreciated the efforts put in by the troops of inspector general of Assam Rifles (N) towards ensuring peaceful assembly elections in Nagaland.
DG also visited the war memorial at Nerhema Village to pay homage to Capt (late) Neikezhakuo Kenguruse, MVC.
He exhorted all ranks to live up to the standards set by the officer who attained martyrdom during the Kargil operations for the country.
