Holy Cross HSS annual sports meet begins

The inaugural ceremony of Holy Cross Higher Secondary School annual games and sports began February 26 with R. Amongla Jamir, deputy district education officer, Dimapur as chief guest.

Amongla Jamir in her speech expressed the need of students to work hard with sincerity to attain their goal.

Expressing that games and sports as integral part of education, she said Nagas have the potentiality of excelling in national and internal arena in the field games and sports and encouraged students to work hard and know God to achieve greater heights.

The chief guest also expressed satisfaction over the performance of the school in various fields. The chief guest also said everyone cannot be a winner, however it is participation that matters while urging the students to play fair game with the spirit of games and sports.

Six contingents including four houses-red, blue, green and yellow, NCC cadets (girls) and Bharat scouts and guides participated in the march past.

In his welcome speech, principal of the school, Rev. Fr. Sunil C.K expressed the effort of the institution in moulding the students through various curricular activities, besides academic excellence.

He said the school has eco club, peace club, Bharat scout and guides, NCC girl cadets and has the plan to introduce NCC cadets (boys) and Indian Red Cross Society.

The inaugural ceremony was also marked with drill display by the four house, special song, Assamese and Nepali dances performed by the students and graced by the presence of parents.
