
Rotary club of Dimapur RI district-3240, held an inauguration program for its “Clean Drinking Water & Waiting Shed” on Saturday, at Golagat road, Dimapur.
The “Clean Drinking Water & Waiting Shed” was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dimapur Sushil Kumar Patel.
The waiting shed consists of a room for use by club members while the clean water station is open to the general public.
Giving a briefing about the project, rotarian president Dr. Nitin Agarwal stated that the installation project was implemented under the permanent assets committee headed by PD Chandu Agarwal.
He said that the project is the renovation of an old project that had shut down. According to Dr. Agarwal, the project is dedicated to the citizens of Dimapur and was built with the objective of providing a public utility service.
Dr. Agarwal also maintained that over the years the club had installed eight drinking water stations & toilet projects in and around Dimapur within schools and public places. He promised that that the club would continue to come up with such projects even in the days to come.
He also asked NGOs take the lead, village council and GBs to maintain the areas and administration to extend their support and assistance.
According to Dr. Agarwal, the water that people get from the station is double filtered and will be available for use from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.
Inaugurating the project, DC Dimapur Sushil Kumar Patel in his short speech lauded the Rotarians for their initiative which, he said, would benefit the public in general and society as a whole.
He also said the Rotarians had done a commendable job, and added that such initiatives should be appreciated by one and all.
The program was attended by Rotary members, the GB, village council chairman and others.
