NBCC women convention begins in Zbto

Eleventh triennial convention of the Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) women department got underway at Town Hall here Friday in a very grand note with more than 20 NBCC affiliated churches’ associations coming together for the historic meet of Naga women.

The three-day convention is being hosted by Sumi Baptist Akukuhou Kuqhakulu (SBAK), Nito Mount women department.

Speaking on the theme “in step with the spirit”, Dr. Hutton, speaker of the introductory service, stressed on the prevalent functioning of Churches today in the contemporary world.

He emphasized on the “real concept of spirituality” by citing various examples and comparison of Jesus Christ and the Jerusalem temple.

Challenging the functioning of Churches in the land, he urged the gathering to focus on “building people” rather than building huge structures and end up being like the Jerusalem temple during Jesus’ time.

He said civil societies, NGOs and individuals were performing the tasks of the Churches towards the downtrodden owing to the Church’s negligence and ignorance.

Dr. Hutton concluded his message by highlighting the “micro ministry” i.e. to begin from one’s own kitchen, locality or neighborhood.

The opening service was chaired by SBAK women secretary Kuholi Chishi and the introductory note was delivered by NBCC women secretary Rev.Narola.

The welcome address was presented by SBAK chairperson Atoli K Yeptho followed by the presentation and two special numbers by Nito Theological College choir and Nagamese Baptist Church Association.

The programme ended with mass prayer with the Youth Secretary NBCC pronouncing the benediction.
On September 21, there would be an inauguration of handicrafts stalls and sale of handicrafts from each associate church, which is the first of its kind in the NBCCWD calendar.
