ZPO refutes ZPO claims on new dist. HQ

Zeliang People’s Organisation (ZPO) has refuted the claims of another group Zeliang People Organization (ZPO) led by Azu Newmai and Kesamyi Irranggaung and has accused the latter of directly confronting the wisdom of the Gauhati High Court and the state chief secretary over the shifting of Peren district headquarters.

In a rejoinder to the news item “ZPO refutes CS’s report on shifting of Peren HQ” published on Friday, Zeliang People’s Organisation president Kiezen and secretary Kerrang Dumta termed the allegation as “unfortunate” and said it was “only an attempt to stall” development in the district.

Zeliang People’s Organisation also alleged that the ZPO led by Azu Newmai and Kesamyi Irrangguang along with their “cronies” has put a “complete halt” development in the district.

They said the latter was always against the court verdict and government decision and all out to stall any developmental activities and progress.

Zeliang People’s Organisation clarified that “shifting or expansion or extension” had the same meaning as the main objective of model district HQ was to provide “wider space and better infrastructures” as the old Peren town has become congested and offered limited scope for any further development.

The organization said the objective was to construct all government offices under the master plan and move all the offices to the new district HQ and informed that the massive deputy commissioner’s office and other offices and staff quarters have been constructed at the new site and they are fit for occupation.

Zeliang People’s Organisation informed that the new district HQ complex was selected by the government as the land was offered by the landowner village – Old Peren, New Peren and Kejanglwa villages.

Zeliang People’s Organisation said this was followed by an MoU between the state commissioner and the three village councils followed by sale deed agreement between deputy commissioner Peren and the three village councils.

Accordingly, land compensation was paid except for the disputed area, said Zeliang People’s Organisation.

The organization also alleged that after receiving the cost of the land, the land owner village – Old Peren in particular played all kinds of “dishonest game.”

While the land compensation for 510.62 acres out of 3715.18 acres was pending because of the dispute between Old Jalukie and Kejanglwa Village, both parties assured that they would not create any problem to any developmental activities or against the shifting of the district HQ, claimed the organization.

Zeliang People’s Organisation said the state government inspite of limited resources, provided basic infrastructures and was continuing to develop the new district HQ and claimed that the shifting of the same was not carried out under any political pressure or interest.

Meanwhile, Zeliang People’s Organisation said it supported and endorsed the government order and urged upon the Peren district administration to shift to new HQ as per the order “without any hesitation.”
