GHS Mkg village celebrates golden jubilee

Government High School Mokokchung village celebrated its fifty years of existence on October 30 with deputy commissioner Mokokchung, Muroho Chotso as the chief guest.

Speaking on the occasion, Chotso said that jubilee celebration was a time to retrospect achievements, blessings and weaknesses.

He said as an educational institution, the school has faced many hurdles during the last 50 years, yet with the selfless acts of the pioneers the school has survived.

The deputy commissioner mentioned that though the school was designated in the village, it was located in the heart of the town, therefore the teachers, parents and students must collectively strive to make the school rise above others and give quality education and produce good citizens.

Deputy district education officer, Mokokchung, Rowaienla speaking as the guest of honour, also encouraged the teachers and students to take advantage of the facilities that the government was providing to the school.

Rowaienla said both the school must put a “little more effort” to compete with other schools and to produce quality students so that they would be an asset for the society tomorrow.

Short speeches were also delivered by the chairman village council, mokokchung village, Imonungba; VEC, Chairman T. Imtiangshi and former head master of the school, Chubawati.
