‘Music never fails to reach people’

A wholesome evening of entertainment inclusive of music, dance and an act embraced the spirit of both old and young alike who witnessed the concert featuring the internationally acclaimed band ‘Alobo Naga and the Band’ organized by Thilixu Students’ Union (TSU) at the Church premises here Friday.

Nagaland Music Task Force (MTF) project director Gugs Chishi, who was the chief guest at the musical evening, said mechanism of music to reach the people had never failed and encouraged the musicians in the state to take music not just as a hobby but take it beyond.

Stating that it was a joy and a proud moment to see “our children” (Alobo Naga and the Band) going beyond the universe in music, Gugs said music was gifted to every Naga and it was inherent and further urged the musicians to work hard.

Gugs, being an acclaimed musician himself, later belted out a number which he composed few years back entitled “Nagaland, Journey to peace”, which was well appreciated by the gathering.

Another attraction of the evening was a solo presentation by a young artiste, a post graduate from the prestigious National School of Drama (NSD), New Delhi, V-Uto Chishi, who gave a powerful yet chilling performances entitled “Conflict Within” where he (protagonist) attempted to present his perspective on the existing concepts of social evils amongst Sumi community.

Chilling performance; rising from the death and challenging the people that ‘Sumis’ were once warriors and born again Christians but now being washed away by the worldly pleasures including addiction to alcohol, drugs, tobacco and so on and finally landing up in the coffin was well received by the gatherings.
