Rally adopts 3-point resolution

Thursday’s rally organized by Action Committee Against Unabated Taxation (ACAUT) under the aegis of Naga Council, Dimapur adopted a three-point resolution.

In a press release, ACAUT media cell lauded the “mammoth” crowd that attended the rally held at Clock Tower, Dimapur on Thursday.

3-POINT RESOLUTION
*
Naga public recognizes “One Government One Taxation” only and has decided to pay only one tax to one entity. This also means that as long as factionalism exists, the Naga public shall not pay tax.

* Naga public re-affirms its support for Naga movement and strongly urges the government of India to settle the Indo-Naga imbroglio at the earliest.

* Government of Nagaland should constitute a high powered committee within 15 days to study the whole gamut of unabated taxations and illegal collections involving the NPGs and government agencies/departments.

The committee shall consist of at least 5 (five) members headed by a retired judge of the Supreme Court or High Court with at least 2 members from ACAUT. The committee should submit its report within 2 months with its findings published in all the newspapers.

In the event, the government fails to constitute the committee within the said period, ACAUT will initiate further action in consultation with public.

While stating that the rally had vindicated its stand as demonstrated by the strong public solidarity, Action Committee Against Unabated Taxation claimed that “almost 40,000 people” turned out to air their anguish against unabated taxation and illegal collections by Naga Political Groups (NPGs) and government agencies/departments.

The committed said the rally made a “strong testament” that Nagas emphatically rejected the present state of affairs and strongly desired change.

Under the umbrella of “People’s Power”, a three-point resolution was adopted during the rally.
Action Committee Against Unabated Taxation  said the resolution was “legitimate, true and binding” on the state government and Naga Political Groups both.
