Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Tokheho Yepthomi Friday took a dig at NPF-led DAN government saying it was only “ruling and not governing the state.”
Addressing Congress party workers of 22/AC Arkakong and 21/AC Tuli assembly constituencies under Mokokchung district here, he described the DAN government as a “one man show government” with absence of any collective decision.
Tokheho further slammed the DAN government as a “business government” which had robbed the state exchequer during nine and half year of its rule. He said DAN ignored all norms to award work for construction of various buildings at exorbitant rates.
He accused DAN legislators of having become contractors and suppliers and because of which, under DAN, the Naga society has been divided into two classes “the rich and the poor” with no middle class.
Tokheho also attacked the NPF’s ‘declared policy’ and its “rhetoric on Naga political issue”. He asserted that the ruling party has been fooling the Naga people for the last nine years on the same issue.
He assured that the Congress legislators would pave the way in the event of a political solution in the near future.
The CLP leader further disclosed that Congress legislators had even offered to sacrifice by stepping down with an appeal to the government of India to bring about an early solution based on Joint Legislators Forum (JLF) resolution No. 3 before the state general election.
He also slammed the NPF-led DAN legislators for refusing to resign. “Naga political solution before state election is the desire of the Naga people in general and the Congress legislators had proved their sincerity by offering to quit. But the NPF is not sincere about its commitment and dishonest with the people” he added.
He further went on state that it was not only the NPF which had the public mandate but also all the 60 elected MLAs of the house.
Tokheho also criticized the government on the issue of 33% reservation of seats for women in municipal and town councils. He said the Act was amended by the state assembly in 2006 but under the pretext of facing numerous opposition, NPF moved to exempt 33% reservation.
Meanwhile, addressing party workers in Tuli town, Tokheho promised that if voted to power, the Congress would give more emphasis on generating employment especially in rural areas through rubber plantation which was favourbale to Nagaland.
He said that Nagaland was one of the highest meat consuming states in the country where approximately Rs. 100 crores was being drained out annually from the state for cattle imports.
Tokheho said if Congress came to power, it would give subsidies to farmers to start piggery farms in order to generate employment for self reliance.
He said Nagaland was a dry State but prohibition of liquor in the state was a complete failure and promised that if Congress was voted to power, the Act would be vigorously enforced.
