SARDP Sumi Area Affected Landowners Welfare Committee (SSAALWC) has informed that it has decided to suspend the ongoing two-lane road project under Sumi jurisdiction for indefinite period over non-payment of phase-II property damage compensation.
In a representation addressed to the deputy commissioner (DC) Zunheboto, the SSAALWC convener Ghuvishe Zhimomi and secretary Kakheto Zhimo said that the welfare committee at a joint meeting on February 13, 2021 reviewed the unresolved matter of non-payment of phase-II property damage compensation under SARDP-NE Road Project way back in 2011.
SSAALWC said that it has, therefore, reaffirmed its earlier resolutions dated August 28, 2019; September 4, 2019 and October 17, 2019, which were submitted to the government authorities.
The committee said it would enforce total cessation of ongoing road project till the payment was made to the genuine beneficiaries listed and verified by respective village council, DC and responbsile departments from the year 2012-2016.
The committee has directed the contactors/firms executing the work to halt/suspend the work with effect from February 17, 2021. SSAALWC cautioned that failure to comply with its directive would invite seizure of machineries.
The committee also affirmed that it would not attend any joint meeting till its issue was addressed.
