PC, NEISSR hold interactive session

As part of the Northeast Institute of Social Science and Research (NEISSR) final year study tour an interactive session was organised by Peace Channel (PC) and NEISSR at NEISSR Hall, Dimapur on April 13.

A press release by PC informed that the speakers for the sessions were Dr. C.P Anto, Garrol Lotha, Ng Alan Paul Mathingso, Veyito and Vitono Haralu.
In his introductory note, Dr C.P Anto said peace channel had been working for more than 15 years throughout the state to make Nagaland the “most peaceful state in India” by the year 2021.
He said peace channel aims to develop a new culture called “peace” in the society.
Dr.Anto also highlighted the need to bring out more concerned citizens and volunteers to work for peace and peace building in the communities, educate the people and build peaceful culture in all walks of life. 
He then challenged the students to practice peaceful culture and lifestyles, create impact and draw importance to the community and also, promote education of the students, youth and the community in general.
In his presentation, Ng Alan Paul Mathingso highlighted the importance of peace education in schools and among the children where strategic long-term goal could be achieved. 
GarolLotha spoke on the initiative of peer mediation as a strategic to develop skills and capacity of the youth in colleges and universities where the students can manage and resolve conflicts among their peer groups.
Speaking on the “role of women in peacebuilding”, VitonoHaralu highlighted the longstanding issues at the grass-root level. She said such issues could be resolved in the light of personal mission to the social cause. 
The programme was attended by the staffs of Peace Channel and MSW final year students from peace and conflict transformation studies and youth development specialization from NEISSR, Dimapur.
