NRMSATA (2016) hits out at finance department

Nagaland Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan Teachers’ Association (2016) has alleged finance department of deliberately delaying the payment of teachers’ salary even after the funds for the same was released by Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India.
In a press statement, NRMSATA (2016) president, Vinito Achumi and general secretary, Kezhothito Keyho, has questioned why files could not be passed in the finance department even after the funds were received from the MHRD?
NRMSATA (2016) said it has learnt that every time funds were received from the Centre the same was “kept pending overdue” in the finance department.
In this regard, NRMSATA (2016) has appealed to the chief minister, T.R. Zeliang, who also is in-charge of the finance department, to listen to the woes and sufferings of the teachers and forward the pending file and pave way for release of all pending salaries as early as possible.
NRMSATA-2016 pointed out that in the midst of its agitation for pending salaries in the month of April 2017, the government issued an assurance letter dated April 22, 2017, promising that “all pending salaries would be cleared and from then on, should backlog exceed two months, then the same shall be paid from the state budget”.
Nagaland Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan Teachers’ Association-2016 said in “great trust and confidence” upon the state government, the association called off its agitation.
However, contrary to the assurance letter, NRMSATA-2016 said the NRMSA teachers’ have not received salary for almost three months.
