SPHSS Dmu ‘2nd annual day of LKG & UKG’

St. Paul Higher Secondary School (SPHSS) Dimapur celebrated 2nd annual day of LKG and UKG students with their parents on September 16 with president, Lotha Hoho, Etsungmomo Kikon as chief guest. 
In a press note by SPHSS Dimapur stated that, Kikon while exhorting the parents said that “we have to see twenty years ahead and teach our children of our culture and traditions” and to give right direction to the children. He also said that children spend few hours in school and rest of the time with parents, whereby parents must not forget their responsibility towards their children. He said time had changed now than ten years back, wherein “our” society has become more complex and “we” have to see to the security of children. Sr. Teresa Kamei in her key note address to the parent’s emphasized the role of parents in the lives of their children, importance of child psychology and the ill effect of media.  Kamei mentioned that young children grow, learn and develop rapidly when they received love and affection, attention, encouragement and mental stimulation, as well as nutritious meals and good health care.  Kamei said, understanding the stages of child development helped parents know what to expect and how to best support the child as she/he grows and develops. A positive parent-child relationship provided the framework and support for a child to develop a healthy respect and regard for self and for others, she added.  Kamei also pointed out that it was the duty of parents, other caregivers and family members, communities, civil society and governments to ensure that child rights were respected, protected and fulfilled. Earlier, principal, SPHSS Dimapur, Sr. Dr. Ranit gave welcome address and vote of thanks delivered by Sentinela. The program witnessed a number of dances, songs, cultures attires, fancy dress etc. More than 200 students participated and around 400 parents witnessed the program.
