In the backdrop of “sealing” of Sidzu Bridge by concern contractor/firm for non-release of funds by Road and Bridge (R&B) department, 18th Chozuba Assembly Constituency Congress Committee (ACCC) has asked the department to immediately look into the matter and release the fund.
In a press statement, 18th Chozuba ACCC president, Ketripra Lohe, stated that the “public should not be held at ransom due to failure on the part of the government and the concern contractor”.
18th Chozuba ACCC said it was learnt that the department has kept the bill pending due to which the contractor/firm has “sealed” Sidzu Bridge for any further public use.
18th Chozuba ACCC has also expressed deep resentment at the gross-apathy and step-motherly treatment meted out to the people, particularly the Chozuba area people, by R&B department over the “wilful blockage” of newly constructed Sidzu River Bridge of Chozuba to Kohima via Kijümetou road. It said the area people have been suffering untold miseries for long due to this road blockage as other alternative roads was beyond useable condition.
Although Chozuba to Kohima via Kijümetou road was still under construction, 18th Chozuba ACCC said the public has no other alternative but to use it even in this rainy season as it was the only lifeline. It has therefore asked the department to open the road for public use.
On non-compliance to the appeal, 18th Chozuba ACCC cautioned that it may lead to any untoward consequences in near future and that the general public may take its “own course of action” deemed fit. At such, it said the concern department and contractor would be held responsible for any eventuality.
