Sand Mahaldars and Suppliers Association (SMSA) Manja, Karbi Anglong, on Tuesday said it has decided to temporarily stop the sale of river sand to Nagaland with effect from June 15 until further notice. In a press release, SMSA publicity secretary, Wilson Tisso, stated that the decision was unanimously taken by all the mahaldars at a meeting held Tuesday at SMSA head office, Manja.
Expressing regret over its decision, the association stated that it has to stop sale temporarily due to “technical problems” with the onset of monsoon season.
