To ensure smooth and peaceful conduct of assembly election, Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer (DC & DEO) accompanied by Superintendent of Police held a consultative meeting with the Village Council Chairman and Council members of Nyiro Range comprising of nine villages- Yanthamo, Yimkha, Longla, Longidang, Rezumyan, Niroyo, Longsachung, Tsantsupen and Okheyan on February 14 at Yanthamo village.
At the meeting, the DC and SP appealed the village leaders to educate the public in their respective villages to not indulge in any election related violence, and reminded them of their roles and responsibilities to ensure that no untoward incident happens.
The village functionaries assured their full co-operation, and to abide by the laid down rules and regulation of the Election Commission of India (ECI) to ensure free, fair and peaceful election.
Earlier, DC conducted similar co-ordination meeting with village leaders of Chukitong Range, Longsa and Wokha village, to contain law and order situation in the district and for the smooth conduct of election.
