AR nab NSCN (I-M), NSCN (R) members

Based on specific input regarding “extortion activities”, troops of 7 Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) carried out a search operation by establishing a Mobile Vehicle check post in Kiphire town on May 2. According to PRO, HQ IGAR (North) Lt. Col. Amitabh Sharma, during the search operation two individuals identified as ‘capt’ Y Wongtsu Tikhir (41) of NSCN (I-M), son of Yansunimong Tikhir, resident of  Sikiur (A) village Kiphire and ‘rajapeo’ Yangtsapa Sangtam (28) of NSCN (R), son of Atobi Sangtam, resident of Seyochong village, Kiphire were nabbed.
PRO informed that the persons were caught with 10 live rounds of AK 47, 5 live rounds of 7.62 mm SLR, Rs 6,090, one Intex mobile, three incriminating documents and one Bajaj Platina. The individuals along with recovered items were handed over to Kiphire Police Station, PRO added. In a separate operation, based on specific input regarding presence of armed cadres in general area Jalukie town, Peren, troops of 36 Assam Rifles launched a search operation on May 5 and apprehended 9 individuals including one ‘capt’ and one Area Political Organiser of NSCN (I-M). PRO IGAR (N) informed that 5 AK series Rifles, one US made gun, one  shot gun, one pt 22 rifle, one pellet gun, 2 pistols, 5 hand grenades, one radio set, 300 rounds of  various caliber and various documents related to NSCN (I-M) were seized from their possession.
