Political Affairs Committee (PAC) of the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) opined that there was no reason for the DAN government to take the issue of exemption of Part IXA for Nagaland to the president of prime minister through ordinance since the NM Act was an Act of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly.
In a press release, NPCC general secretary, Medokul Sophie, said the PAC at its meetings on February 10, 2017 at Congress Bhavan, Kohima cautioned that any such misadventure could infringe upon Art 371A.
The meeting, which deliberated the ongoing impasse, resolved to call for amending Nagaland Municipal Act 2001 as amended upto date in consultation with all the stake holders in the spirit of Art 371 A.
The committee alleged that the DAN government failure to listen to the people and betraying the JCC and NBCC and the people of Nagaland has led to “a complete breakdown of constitution” in the state.
Further, Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee reiterated its stand that it would endeavour to solve the Naga political problem through peaceful and constitutional means and serve as a bridge between Naga National Groups and the government of India.
It also asserted that Congress party initiated peaceful negotiation and continued to stand for peaceful negotiation.
Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee maintained that 60 MLAs came together assuring the public to bring about Naga political settlement, but they have instead divided Nagas into sections and have miserably failed to bring solution.
Meanwhile, NPCC said it would send a delegation to Delhi to apprise AICC on the present situation.
