Khrozote Kapfo, the Congress candidate for Ward 8, has accused the council members of Netaji Colony of preventing him from conducting a door-to-door campaign on June 19. Addressing a gathering of media persons at the Congress Bhavan Dimapur on Thursday, Kapfo stated that he, along with his agent, party workers, family, and friends, was campaigning in Netaji Colony at around 2:30 PM on Wednesday when council members intervened and halted their campaign.

He alleged that the council members questioned him “aggressively” on why he was accompanied by individuals from other colonies.
Kapfo asserted that he received no prior notice from the council prohibiting him to conduct door-to-door campaigns.

He also alleged that despite his repeated requests for a meeting with the council members, Kapfo said he received no response. Kapfo also clarified that no official approval was required for door-to-door campaigning during elections. Meanwhile, Dimapur District Congress Committee (DDCC) president Kutoho Chishi urged the council to ensure a free and fair election.

GB denies Cong allegation on obstruction of campaign
In response to the accusation and allegations by the Congress candidate, GB of Netaji Colony, N Lasuh, clarified that the colony council had decided not to allow campaigning with a large number of people, regardless of the party.

Addressing media at his residence, Lasuh alleged that Kapfo had brought 10 to 15 members from outside the colony for his campaign, and added that fearing potential violence between the two parties/candidates, Kapfo’s campaign was stopped. He also stated that both candidates were informed that outside members were not allowed to campaign in the colony.
