Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) has extended its solidarity and support to the proposed public rally, being organised by the Angami Youth Organisation (AYO), on August 6, 2024 at Old MLA Hostel junction, Kohima, against “unabated taxations, harassment, intimidation and death threat to common people”.

In a press release, DCCI president Akashe Zhimomi asserted that DCCI had always been at the forefront of the fight against all forms of illegal taxation, intimidation and harassment meted out to the citizens especially the business community by various groups and organisations.

In this regard, the DCCI has reiterated its appeal to the different groups and organisations to heed to the cries of the public and desists from any form of illegal taxation and acts that would disturb the peace and harmony in the society.

KCCI: Kohima Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) has pledged its cooperation and support to the Angami Youth Organisation (AYO) for taking the initiative to organise a public rally against “unabated illegal taxations, harassments, intimidations and death threats to common people”.

In a press release, KCCI president Kezhazer Angami and general secretary Henry Chisüte appealed to all the members of the business community to keep shut their shops and business establishments during the duration of the demonstration and attend the public rally at Old MLA Hostel Junction, Kohima at 11am on August 6, 2024.

KCCI said it was appalled over the recent death treat on K. Rülho, proprietor of KKB Rülho and a bona fide member of KCCI, by NSCN/GPRN (Khango). “This decree has enraged and traumatised the business community over the odds as through the decades, the business community is one amongst the few section from whom the Naga Political Groups have realised monetary contributions to fund its day to day activities,” KCCI stated.

However, instead of acknowledging the contributions, the chamber said the business community had been made to bear the brunt of uncountable harassments, intimidations, physical assaults and death threats from the multitudes of NPG’s indulgence in forms of unabated taxations, periodical collections and day to day demands.

KCCI maintained that the present trend of squeezing monetary resources from the business community, contractors & suppliers, public servants, public etc, would be counterproductive in the long run. It cautioned that the resulting ramification thereof would do a huge damage to the Naga national movement and even the very fabric of the society.

KCCI has, therefore, requested all NPGs not to resort to taking arbitrary decisions which imperials the physical well beings of the individual or parties. Hence, KCCI has appealed to the NSCN/GPRN (Khango) group in particular to revoke the death threat against K. Rulho at the earliest.
