Clarifying the new report that the Supreme Court’s order dismissing the Special Leave Petition(SLP) on the delimitation issue, as sought for by the CPO and others, general secretary Joint Action Committee of Tribal Hohos on Delimitation, Idailung Thou said it was in fact a moral victory for those favouring implementation of the Delimitation Act 2002 also amended in 2003.
Thou said the apex court had issued the order on May 4,2009 as the respondents-CPO and others-did not file their counter affidavit. Thou said the JAC had earlier obtained an order from the Gauhati High Court restraining the DCI from going ahead with the delimitation till the PIL filed by the CPO against the 2001 census was disposed off.
