NGA flags discrimination

A delegation of the Nagaland Gorkha Association (NGA), led by its president Nobin Pradhan, called on deputy chief minister Y Patton on March 28 to discuss concerns over the discrimination in cut-off year for the Gorkha community in the state.

NGA highlighted that while the cut-off year for other non-Naga communities in Nagaland was 1963, for the Gorkhas, it remains 1940. Patton assured the delegation that he would take up the matter with the chief secretary for cabinet discussion.

He also advised NGA officials to engage with other cabinet ministers to garner broader support for rectifying the cut-off year and bringing it at par with other non-Naga communities.
