The Consumer Society Dimapur District (CSDD) has requested all the consumers in general to protect their consumers’ right and to remember the important rules.
According to a press note issued by V. Vinito Chophy, president CDD, the important rules to be remembered are: consumers should purchase only when in need and not to purchase in hurry and atleast to visit two to three shops as the same quality and same product may be found at different rates in different shops, not to buy blindly and demand full information or detail before any purchase, to be aware of false advertisements and to purchase only quality products or manufactured goods only. Further, always to obtain proper cash memo or guarantee card or warranty card duly stamped and signed by shopkeeper as whenever necessity arises these would be helpful in Consumer court.
Not to hesitate to approach the appropriate authority or Consumer court in case of defective goods, deficient services and unfair restrictive trade practices. Meanwhile, the dealers and shopkeepers should be aware of expired goods, excess of MRP rate and that removal of original price from the label is strictly prohibited and should not sell goods without original cash memo along with VAT number to the consumers.
