USSC, NSF, NLSF, condemn assault on students

United Sangtam Students’ Conference (USSC) has condemned the incident that took place at Tinpati area, near PG Women’s Hostel, Kohima where some unidentified armed-men “physically assaulted” two students, Thingtsase Sangtam, B.com 1st year student, Baptist College and Tsalongchem Sangtam BA1st year student of Alder College on November 30 at around 5.30 pm.
According to USSC the two students were stopped by armed-men and were ‘beaten’, ‘slapped’ and hit by gun butts besides, their mobile phones were also seized. USSC appealed the responsible authorities/factions to inquire and take stern action against such “undisciplined” cadres.
NSF condemns CRPF
Naga Students Federation has slammed the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) at Lerie colony for assaulting and detaining a student of Kohima Law College on December 1. A release issued by NSF stated that CRPF personnel were supposed to assist who needed their services but instead indulged in ‘ventilating their wickedness towards the Naga students community”. NSF urged the state government to take effective measures for the safety of the general public.
NLSF: Nagaland Law Students’ Federation (NLSF) has condemned the assault on its member, Keduvi Zhotso of Kohima Law College by CRPF personnel based at Lerie Colony, Kohima on December 1. A press release issued by NLSF general secretary, K. Nupahoto Aye and various federation members stated that Keduvi Zhotso was returning home after attending Kohima Law College Evangelical Union Pre-Christmas programme around 8:30 pm on December 1 when he was stopped on the way and was beaten up by CRPF personnel without any reason. NLSF appealed to authority to take disciplinary action against the erring officer-in-charge and personnel.
Angami Students’ Union’s plea to IRB
Angami Students’ Union (ASU) Kohima has stated that their president Vitszo Meyase was assaulted by three IRB jawans patrolling Razhu Point on December 3 at 9:30 pm after he was returning home from a wedding. A note issued by ASU joint secretary Vincent Sote asked the IRB to book the culprits for their high handedness so that innocent students do not become victims in future.
