Late Govinda Paira remembered

The Dimapur Sahitya Sabha along with members of Namghar Trust and teachers and students of Namghar Higher Secondary School and Public of Dimapur observed the 98th Birth Anniversary of Late Govinda Chandra Paira February 23.

Late Govinda Chandra Paira was a noted social worker, politician, an assamese novelist, short story writer, dramatist, two times vice -president of Assam Sahitya Sabha, a pioneer of co-operative movement in Nagaland.

Sweets were distributed among the students and thereafter Nama Sankritan was performed in Namghar Manikut followed by an open session under R.S. Paswan, president of Dimapur Sahitya Sabha.

Various dignitaries focused on the contribution made by Late Paira, during his lifetime towards the people of Nagaland and also the contribution made by him in the field of Assamese literature.

The dignitaries who spoke on the occasion were Retired Professor Nila Gogie, Kanderwar Kalita. Gonesh Bhuyan and Premi Paira.
