Defence PRO, Tezpur has denied news report that an army man was arrested with drugs published in few dailies.
In a statement, PRO (defence), Tezpur Lt. Col. N.N. Joshi termed the news “baseless” and said that one havildar Mohammad Nizamuddin who was reportedly arrested belonged to Manipur Rifles under the state government.
He said the news of this nature and naming the army was only attempts to malign the image of the army.
Joshi said the numerous social and community development projects undertaken that have benefitted large sections of the general population were testimony to the noble intentions of the army in the Northeast.
