With an aim to inspire and showcase the creative talents of upcoming fashion designers, The Global Open University Nagaland (TGOUN) would be organizing its 2nd annual fashion show 2013 on the theme “Art in Tune” on March 26, 5:30 p.m. at local ground, Kohima.
This was announced during a press conference Wednesday in Hotel Orchid, Kohima. The conference was attended by Nchumthung Ovung, APRO, S. Venuh faculty member (FM), Sentitola Jamir FM, Rosou Rhi FM, Regina Chakhrünu FM and students.
Chief secretary, Alemtemshi Jamir would be the chief guest while Nise Meruno, brand ambassador for international music company AKG by Harman Austria and Miss Nagaland 2012 1st runners-up, Dovine Venuh would be the show stoppers.
The fashion show is part of the annual curriculum activities and in a way help students to train themselves for better prospect in future, the faculty members said.
Besides this, all the participants will be awarded TGOUN certificate and other titles, they added.
The students would display their creations based on themes such as “New romance”, “Black swingers”, “Popsicle”, “Instrument of peace”, “Tribal orpheus”, and “Night fever”.
Apart from music and dance by various state artistes, 20 experienced local models (6 males and 14 females) and TGOU students would take part in the fashion show.
Tickets would be available at the venue and has been fixed at Rs. 20 per head and Rs. 1000 for donors (admit two) with complimentary dinner.
The co-sponsors of the show are Naro Ki, Go-tech Enterprise, Unitex inc, Hive café, Ozone Café and Star Mart.
It may be mentioned that TGOUN is the only university in Nagaland offering degree course in fashion designing.
At present, the institute has 37 students including short term course students. The university was established with an aim to introduce vocational, job oriented and employment centric education in the north east region, particularly Nagaland with three campuses at Kohima, Dimapur and Wokha.
