Prince Andrew, Duke of York– second son and third child of Queen Elizabeth II will visit Kohima on May 1 to commemorate Queen’s Diamond Jubilee (60 years) celebration. A communiqué from the chief minister’s secretariat Tuesday confirmed the visit of Prince Andrew along with five others.
The Duke of York will undertake a tour of India from Sunday April 29 to Sunday May 6. The cabinet meeting which was held at the chief minister’s residential office decided to “heartily welcome the Prince to Kohima” with all possible assistance and courtesies.
State chief secretary has been tasked to coordinate the visit and assign responsibilities to officers and departments concerned to ensure smooth flow of the programme.
In an exclusive by Nagaland Post on April 19 it was reported that the Prince would visit Delhi, Kohima, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai to commemorate Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
Members of the Royal Family will tour the globe representing the Queen throughout the Diamond Jubilee year, visiting every Realm as well as undertaking visits to Commonwealth countries, Crown Dependencies and British Overseas Territories.
It was also reported that Princess Beatrice was also keen to join her father Prince Andrew; however, there was no confirmation of her visit.
