Leadership determined in various circumstances: Rio

First conference of the Chumukedima Area GBs Association (CAGBA) was held on Tuesday at local ground Diphupar with Lok Sabha MP, Neiphu Rio as chief guest and Chumukedima EAC, Thungbemo Patton as guest of honour.
Speaking at the occasion Rio said everyone could be a leader but the quality of a leader was determined by how one used his power under different circumstances. “Civilisation takes thousand years to develop, but it just takes a few minutes to detach from us,” Rio remarked.
While lamenting the fragmentation of Naga society, he stated the existence of jealousy and enmity in our society indicated that we still not civilised.
Reminding the GBs that they were the custodian of the Naga Customary Law, Rio encouraged them to strengthen this collective association, never to misuse the power vested in them, to work together for good, and to safeguard our customary laws.
Also speaking at the function, EAC Thungbemo Patton said GBs were an indispensible entity in the administrative institution. He was however critical of GBs straying away from their duties and responsibilities. He reminded the GBs that the government has bestowed great trust upon them and they should, therefore, understand their duties and work hard. He called upon the gathering to be positive in everything they do and to encourage each other.
Earlier the program was chaired by CAGBA president Tokishe Achumi, invocation by Ao Baptist Church Diphupar, pastor N.Lipok Jamir, special number was presented by Vibika Yeptho, vote of thanks by CAGBA vice president Yashimeren Lkr and benediction by Chrisian Revival Church Diphupar, pastor Kruzie-o Khro.
