A woman in her mid-20s was found murdered at her residence at Tenyiphe village- 1, here on the night of October 8.
According to Diphupar police source, the assailant(s) must have killed the victim- identified as Medovilie Movi daughter of Mote Movi of Zhamai village, by some sharp objects, as some cut marks were visible on her head and back of the neck. However, the objects used by the assailant(s) have not been discovered, police said.
The victim was running a small paan shop and was living alone, police said. An FIR has been lodged by victim’s mother and investigation on the case is underway, police said.
Meanwhile, various organizations have condemned the brutal murder.
WCMA: Western Chakhesang Mothers’ Association (WCMA) has vehemently condemned the brutal murder of late Medovilie Movi. WCMA president, Bino Kenye and general secretary, Akhrole Venuh in a joint press statement, said that association was anguished on the “abhorrent ferocity” committed on the victim.
It urged the law enforcing agency to investigate the murder expeditiously and award befitting punishment to the culprits at the earliest. Further, the association conveyed condolences to the bereaved family members.
TWO: Tenyiphe-1 Women Organization (TWO) expressed shock on the “horrific” murder of Modovilie Movi.
The organization in a condemnation note by its president, Khrieseno and secretary Ale said that on October 8 night, “the criminals entered then house of the victim and inflicted severe injuries on the head and back of her neck with machete and leaving her to die after removing all her clothes”.
They said that such ghastly act perpetrated upon helpless woman cannot be tolerated or cordoned in any society.
Further, TWO appealed to the investigating authorities to leave no stone unturned till the case was brought to logistic conclusion and the culprits brought to justice. The organization said it will extend fullest cooperation to the investigation authorities and will not rest till the criminals were identified and justice delivered to the victim’s family.
ZUD: Zhavame Union Dimapur (ZUD) in a condemnation note stated that one of its members, Modovilie Movi (Avilie), daughter of Mote Movi of Zhavame was brutally murdered by an unidentified miscreant (s) on the night of October 8 at her residence at Tenyiphe-1 (E Khel) without any rhyme or reason.
In a press release, ZUD chairman, Reo Dukru and general secretary Kevizelie Rhi appealed to the responsible authority to arrest the culprit at the earliest and award punishment as per the law of the land.
