Chakhesang Students’ Union (CSU) on Friday observed Black Day in memory of its former Games & Sports Secretary, late Achikho Puro, who was shot dead along with three others on October 3, 2007, at AG colony, Kohima, by a combined force of NSCN (K) and FGN (Non-Accordist).
Addressing the gathering on the solemn occasion, CSU president Mutsivoyi Kotso condoled the demise of late Achikho and others, and urged all right thinking citizens to condemn killing of innocent civilians.
The president also appealed to all factions of Naga national movement to respect the sentiments of the student community and said such kind of “tragedy” should be the first and last in order to avoid any communication gap between the community and the underground groups.
Paying tributes to the departed, CSU led by its president along with students from different schools of Kikruma, laid wreaths on the grave of Late Achikho.
According to CSU officials, the black day was observed in all Chakhesang inhabited areas and all educational institutions under CSU jurisdiction observed a two-minute silence in memory of late Achikho.
The black day programme organized here at Kikruma village was attended by CSU executives, VCC Kikruma Zuveru and his colleagues, former CSU president Mutsikhoyi Yhobu, relatives of the victims, students and teachers of various educational institutions of Kikruma and well wishers.
