Parliamentary secretary for geology and mining, Y. Patton said the disunity among people was the main cause for the present Champang oil impasse.
The parliamentary secretary toured the border areas and Champang oil field accompanied by officials from border affairs and geology and mining on December 11 and 12. At Niuland, he interacted with administrative officers of the area and visited the construction site of the border magistrate office -cum- rest house and also had a brief meeting with commandant of neutral force (CRPF Co. 115 Bn) at Rengmapani.
Addressing a public meeting at Ralan and Merapani that was chaired by EAC Baghty and ADC Bhandari respectively, the parliamentary secretary urged the village functionaries and elders to put aside petty differences and stand united on issues relating to border affairs and later made an inspection of the construction sites of border magistrate office cum rest house in both the areas.
Holding a public meeting at EAC office, Champang, N.K Kithan, a senior villager, gave a brief account of the origin of Champang and Tssori oil fields while the parliamentary secretary Y. Patton emphasized on unity among villagers so as to bring development activities to the locality.
