State to observe ‘Earth Hour 2009’

As a gesture of support for “Environ Conscious Citizens” and solidarity with the rest of the world to address the global phenomenon of climate change, the state government has decided to observe “Earth Hour 2009” throughout the state on March 28 by switching off electricity from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
According to an official bulletin ,state chief secretary, Lalhuma has requested all government employees and public to extend cooperation by observing “Earth Hour 2009” March 28 and switching off lights.
Meanwhile, Nagaland State Designated Agency (NSDA), state department of power in pursuance of the observation of “Earth Hour” has extended support with the rest of the state to join hands in standing against climate change.
According to a release issued by NSDA chief electrical inspector, Er. K.T. Wabang Ao “Earth Hour Nagaland 2009” was an effort to unite in the global call for every individual and community to contribute in the fight against Climate Change.
While encouraging all to cooperate in this endeavor, NSDA has requested consumers to support with the mission and vision to conserve energy by way of switching off, avoiding overuse/misuse of electrical appliances/gadgets at home, institutions, offices, business establishments and firms.
